A new retail era order is emerging. It will seamlessly blend the online and offline retail experience together, allowing customers to shop where and how they want, at any time. Online tools are being adopted for in-store use to bring the immediacy of online into the brick and mortar world. We are at our infancy in truly seeing the impact of these efforts.
There is no question however that the majority of innovation, now and into the future, will demand that retailers offer the customer the best of what the physical and virtual world have to offer. Brick and mortar retailers are clearly beefing up their online and cross channel capabilities. But, in an interesting twist, online players are now using physical space to attract customers. This mashup of online and offline retail will continue to drive new innovation.
